I am happy and blessed to be able to say that the 4th Grade class at ORCA has been my home away from home since 2012. Each year I continue to learn and grow as I teach the precious young lives with whom God blesses me. I have been privileged to influence children's lives through teaching for a number of years since I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1982. I studied further to obtain my Masters in Special Education as well. My teaching experience includes twelve years in Christian schools, and four years in public school as a Special Education teacher, all at the elementary level. As a student, I also attended Christian schools from the 7th grade through college, and I have always valued Christian education for its ability to positively impact the lives of both students and their families. It is a joy to me to be able to teach my students about our awesome God and His Word, and to be able to pray with them. It is also wonderful to watch them grow, not only academically, but spiritually as well.
I’ve always believed in God’s leading and blessing me through these years as a teacher.
He has also blessed me with a wonderful husband, Tom Hassell, who heads up a quality control lab for a chemical company here in The Woodlands. Tom and I have two wonderful children, a daughter named Alynsia, and a son named Christopher.
My interests include doing things with family and friends, from Bible study, singing and worshipping at church, and potluck meals at home, to shopping, gardening, camping and cruising. On my own I enjoy cooking, shelling, crafts, and home projects. This year I am looking forward to the joy of God’s blessings to include getting to know my new students and their families as we work together to grow in knowledge of, and experience with, God.
